Back in Lamar we were rewarded again with colder temperatures though the record low we had are over for now and during the day it gets almost “hot”. Gardiner had 56°F (14°C) today. Nonetheless, beautiful blue skies and still snow in eastern Lamar are perfect for landscape photos. Near the otter den I managed to get this one which most likely will be another large format print for my office. (Taken yesterday morning)
Eva took this photo today when we entered Lamar early in the morning.
With no luck with the wolves nor with the bobcat we were rewarded seeing the otter shortly yesterday. When we arrived most of the action was over and many of the photographers around packed their gear and took off. Since I knew that they were hiding in their den we waited for approximately one hour and one of the otters came out, raised his head and then raced into the water disappearing for another hour and then re-entering the den the same way: Straight, quick and hard to capture.
We spent almost three hours and then decided to see something else and got rewarded with a beautiful look at the bighorn sheep near Soda Butte.
On our usual way towards Cooke City we passed Pebble Creek again an area where we looked for the red fox for almost five days. A car was standing directly on the road and the mentioned the fox and yes, finally we saw the fox as well. Far away though but still nice to watch him hunting for rodents. We got a couple of nice shots but many are high crops due to the large distance. Then he decided to disappear iback in the woods again.
Here he is trying to chase his shadow *g*
We have seen the wolfwatchers spending all day at Little America looking at the Silver Pack. They started at sunrise and nearly at sunset they were still there. The wolves only have moved 50 yards far in the distance. They were so gently pointing my camera to the area where they were present. Could you spot the four wolves in the picture below?

Here is a crop of the image (disregard the blur):
Today topped of with some nice elk silhouettes after sunset.
