This Saturday we had the pleasure shooting pictures with Jasmin who recently found our website and contacted us about getting some pictures. After exchanging several emails with ideas about locations, dresses and other shooting related stuff we started taking pictures at a lovely location just outside Worms. The castle and park of Herrnsheim. This location offers many places and structure to take pictures but you need to be cautious about your timing. The high sun during the day creates some real harsh light at many places.
This picture -which I converted into B&W – was taken completely in the shade and Eva used a California Sunbounce Pro (in silver) to fill some light. It is just amazing how much light they throw even if you are 5-10 meters away from your subject.
Here again Jasmin is completely covered in shade under a large tree and Eva brought the light back.
In the gallery below you will find some additional pictures from that location as well using our new Hensel Porty Lithium which we used for the first time ever.
After leaving the castle Jasmin changed the dress from casual to being a bride and we left towards the Rhine into the more industrial area with rails, buildings, etc.
The beauty of using a portable flash unit is that even during the day you could pretend shooting at or after sunset. The picture below was taken around 8:00 PM – a time in summer where plenty of light is still around.
Jamin looked great in that dress – thanks for bringing the idea and the dress.
Here is a making of picture illustrating the lighting setup.
We did the usual bridal shots as well and they are all beautiful but I personally like the industrialized shots as the look really dramatic.
