This year starts again with a great trip to Norway in expectation of winter, northern lights (aurora borealis) and beautiful landscapes. As we approached Tromso yesterday evening we have seen the first northern lights already from the plane for at least 20 minutes. We picked up our car at the airport, drove to our hotel and dropped the luggage and prepared our gear. This year we got a beautiful lens from Carl Zeiss that is a stunning combination with the Nikon D850 that replaced my Nikon D810: Zeiss Milvus 25mm 1.4 with incredible sharpness already at f/1.4 offering one f-stop compared to my Zeiss 25mm 2.0 Classic.
Since we started very early in the morning we decided not to hunt for auroras the whole not and took a quick tour towards Sommaroy and Tromvik and where quite lucky in both places. Not the strongest northern lights but still clearly visible with temperatures between -8°C and -11°C and almost no wind.
This morning we drove our usual tour to Sommaroy and had all kinds of weather. The beautiful winter light with its lovely colours and some severe snow clouds rushing in providing dramatic scenery and limited visibility. Glad that we had lunch at the Havrua Kro.
Now enjoy a small set of images that I have preprocessed for the web.
